“Releasing the Babies”

Stock enhancements are one of the fishery management tools that would improve the condition of the fishery resources. The Philippine Association of Crab Processors Inc. (PACPI), together with the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources- Region 7 (BFAR-7), released 61,000 blue swimming crab instars in the coastal waters of Brgy. Guintabo-an, Ubay, Bohol that was participated by the Barangay Officials and residents in the area.

Through this effort, we supplement the natural production of the blue swimming crab (BSC) and protect the people’s livelihood by producing a hatchery-grown instar from the Multi-Species Hatchery of BFAR-7 in Sinandigan, Ubay, Bohol.

Hand-in-hand, let us protect these tiny organisms and promote sustainable fishing by catching only individuals with more than 10.20cm in size and freeing the berried crabs to let them spawn.
